Laundry, Drugs and Homelessness

Laundry is always an issue in our house. With 8 people in a family, laundry can get out of control quickly. My goal for today was to get caught up. I got it sorted and washing and drying and sat down for a 'quick' facebook break. While I am reading posts about people wrapping and shopping and baking and those who wished they were shopping and wrapping and baking, I can hear Sarah lecturing Brynna.

I am pretty sure Brynna was listening just about as well as I was. Remember Charlie Brown? "Waa, waa, waa." I am really not paying attention. And then I hear, "Do you want Mommy to be on drugs?"

What?!?!?

Sarah is lecturing Brynna on putting her clothes away. It goes something like this:

"Brynna, you need to go put that basket of your laundry away. Mommy gets really upset when you don't. And when you put clean clothes back into the laundry, she gets REALLY upset. If she stays upset all the time, she might have to start using drugs to get through the day. And that would be really bad."

"And when you put clean clothes in the laundry to be washed again, it wastes water. Water is expensive. If Mommy has to spend so much money on water, she can't pay our other bills. If she can't pay our bills, we will have to move out of our house."

"If she has to spend all the money on water and drugs, we will definitely be homeless. Do you want to live in the Suburban?"

I am paraphrasing, but that is the gist of it. It made me laugh. Brynna was unfazed. It would have been completely amazing if it had worked. But, alas, Brynna's laundry is still in the basket.

Oh well, I got a giggle out of it. Isn't that all that really matters?

BFS Torture or How I manage STRESS

Wednesday
It was already going to be a crazy day. The girls had an 8:00 dentist appointment, the boys 2:00. I find dental visits to be very stressful. The bad news, the expense, the struggle to get them all to a certain place at a certain time(with all of their teeth brushed). Stress.

My sweet, darling, wonderful husband woke me up and had my coffee waiting on me. I love that man!

He left for work and I grab my jacket from the floor where I had dropped it the day before. As I pick it up I heard something hit the floor. I HEARD something hit the floor. I looked down and almost DIED. It was a BIG FUCKING SPIDER. (Sorry, Mom.)

I did what anyone would do in a case such as this. I ran to the kitchen and grabbed a cup. It makes perfect sense to me. I slapped the cup on top of the BFS and went out on the porch. I did put the jacket on. Because I am not scared.

Now normally I have to fight with myself to stay up that early in the morning. Not this time. Wide awake! Did I mention it was my bedroom floor?

I spend a little while trying to decide what to do about this spider under a cup. Yes, I know I could have just squished him. Had I squished him, no one would know how huge he was. A smear is not very impressive.

While I pondered my dilemma, I texted that sweet, darling, wonderful man I married. He responded with LOL. That BASTARD! And all day long he was texting 'snicker' at me. His new name is Bastard. Maybe by Christmas he will be back to husband.

Now before I tell you how I handled the BFS, I have to point out that not only is it dentist day but also 8 days before Christmas. I am not ready. No tree, no presents, no cookies. Nothing. My house is trashed. My yard is trashed. I am behind in everything. We had a cub scout Christmas party on Monday and a girl scout Christmas party on Tuesday. I am stressed. I am behind. I am dropping balls left, right and center. And bright and early Wednesday morning, a spider decided to scare the crap out of me. So please don't judge me for what I am about to tell you.

I took an envelope and slid it under the cup. I very carefully picked it up and walked to the kitchen. I flipped the cup and envelope over, removed the envelope and looked inside. Yep. It was still a BFS. I took a picture. Covered the cup with plastic wrap with a rubber band. I sent the picture to my husband followed by a single word. Bastard. He snickered. Bastard.

Now I have to decide what to do with this cup.

Call me crazy, but I gave the cup a shake. Not a vigorous shake. Just enough to knock the spider off his feet. And I felt better. I set the cup down with a tap. Yep, I feel better. No spider is allowed to crawl up in my jacket and scare the crap out of me. Never mind that my jacket was on the floor.

I took the girls to the dentist. Found out they need $600 worth of stuff done. Gulp! Most of that is sealants which my insurance does not cover. What kind of sense does that make? Stress. Came home, shook the cup. Felt better.

I took the boys to the dentist. Found out they need $600 worth of stuff done. Double gulp! Again with the sealants. STRESS! Came home, shook the cup, texted BASTARD to that man I married, felt better.

So here it is Thursday. I spent 5 hours dealing with AT&T. Can you spell S-T-R-E-S-S? I don't even have to shake the cup anymore. I just have to think about shaking the cup. And text a BASTARD to the husband. And I feel better.

The spider's name is Herman. He is missing a leg. I didn't do that. I found him that way. He is still in the cup with the plastic wrap and rubber band. I am wondering what kind of spider he is and if he needs a snack. What do you feed spiders? The Bastard says they eat ankles.

Should I release him into the wild? I can't squash him. He has a name. What to do? What to do?

Best Hazing Ever!

So as you might have guessed from the last post, I have been granted the title of Assistant Amateur Reporter Extrodinaire by Myself, and given my mother's blessing in the form of 'Okay, I guess you can post on mine.*SIGH*'
I will try my best to do good by the events of our household, and all the liveliness they imply.  I hope that you all will bear with my errors and discrepancies, and we will all learn to get along, or at the very least not find ourselves screeching 'GO FOR THE EYES' much more often than is necessary.
For now, please just rest assured that new posts ARE in the works, for both my humble blogs, and Our house isn't liable to run out of material soon!

                                                                                'Til the next post!
                                                                                           -Sarah

I'm a BAD blogger

I am feeling a little something. Something not awesome. Something a little bit icky. I probably need a vacation. Or at least a nap.

I feel inadequate. Overwhelmed, understaffed, misunderstood. I know, without a doubt, that I have too much on my plate. I keep dropping the balls that I am juggling. They roll under the couch to live in dust bunny infested quarters, unnoticed, forgotten. At least until someone says,"Hey, weren't you gonna take care of that?"

One of the great many balls that I have let roll off and become lost is this blog. And so I have made the executive decision to allow my super talented daughter to post for me. Although it makes me feel a little bad. I will pep talk myself through it.

"It is better that someone post the hilarity that is our life than let it be lost, forever. Better to let Sarah help/do it for me than to lose it. Right? Right. Right! RIGHT?!?!?!?!

And so, prepare yourself for awesomeness. (I will have to remember to nag her about posting pictures, too.) And everyone should be brutally honest with her on any grammatical errors you might find. Because she would do it for you, if the situation were reversed.

Don't forget to check out my new favorite blog: http://happyinadequacies.blogspot.com/

p.s. No one is allowed to edit my posts but me. Just saying. In case I needed to. Do I need to add the threat of death? Unless, of course, you find a glaring grammatical error.

A Week in the Life

It has been a pretty normal week in the McDrano household. LOL! Lots of stuff going on. Lots of running around. Last week was crazy, scout crazy. So this week seemed almost calm in comparison.

First off, Sunday. Had to finish a cake and make it to Court of Honor by 2pm. Fortunately, it wasn't supposed to start until 4. Efrain took Eric at 2. I didn't make it until 4. But I did get the cake done. It was supposed to be a walking stick. It ended up being a walking branch. But, hey, it's a cake.

Monday was Cub Scouts. The boys earned their table tennis belt loop. It was fun. On Tuesday morning, the Webelos met again to earn their Readyman pin. Thanks, Ms. Shaunna. You are awesome! Tuesday was also the day Lauren woke up with strange red splotches on her face. By Wednesday morning, it was clear she had gotten into poison ivy again. Isn't she gorgeous?

So off we go to the doctor for a course of steroids. Yay! She looked worse by Wednesday night, but much better by Thursday morning.

Thursday afternoon, Lauren headed to Grandma's for a visit. Aiden showed us Thursday night that he can swim. The little boy who insisted on wearing a floatie swimsuit (usually his sister's pink one) plus a ring floatie and arm floaties all at the same time, now doesn't want to wear anything! That stresses his mommy out, just a little bit.

Friday brought a new chore chart (yay!) and snake feeding day. Watching the snake  eat makes me gag, just a little bit. But he is so cute all the rest of the time.

And then there was today. Today was supposed to be the pool party for the Webelos. Unfortunately, a storm prevented that from happening. Grandma brought Lauren home. No way was she going to miss a pool party. They came in. Everything was fine. Except for the whole phone call frenzy. Cancelling and rescheduling the pool party. Ugh! Then I walk Mom out to her car. And realize there is a limb in the driveway. And there is black safety glass everywhere. A limb fell on the Suburban and broke out the back glass.

Occasionally, it hits home just how lucky I am. Although a limb fell on my 'burb and I now have to replace the glass, It didn't hit anything but the weatherstripping and the glass. Nothing inside the 'burb was damaged. No painted surfaces were even touched. The thing that the glass rides in was not damaged. Lucky, right?

And then it hit me. Where the limb fell was right where Mom and Lauren were walking just a few minutes earlier. And where Mom and I were walking a few minutes later. More than just lucky, blessed.

And then Sarah gave me bugs. My favorite kind of bugs. They don't buzz or sting or crawl or fly. They just sit there, looking cute.

It's an awesome, charmed life I lead. And I wouldn't change a thing.

I love my kids!

My kids often shock me, with awesome behavior and not so awesome behavior. And it is always crazy around here. This week was no different.

Sarah asked me to pick up her holds at the library for her. Sure, no problem. Turns out her holds numbered about 15. Good grief! We haven't seen much of her this week.

Eric and his snake are adorable together. I swear the snake comes out of hiding whenever Eric is near. Atlas is my favorite pet ever. Doesn't smell, doesn't make noise, only eats once a week. Favorite. Pet. Ever!

Caleb has entered the stage where he wants to be anywhere but here. Can I go? Can I go?

Lauren has poison ivy. Again! On her face. Again! Nothing a course of steroids won't fix up. (And yes, I am slightly jealous.)

Brynna built a ghost trap today. She says our house is haunted. Our doorbell does keep going off by itself. It needs replacing. But if anything is misplaced, Brynna says the ghosts took it.

And my Aiden, my sweet Aiden, who has always been more cautious of the water than his 'have no fear' sister, swam today! He swam all the way around our 24' pool with no assistance, no floaties, never touching the wall. And when he was done, he climbed out and jumped from the porch into the pool and swam over to the ladder. I could not have been more impressed!

I love these people. When they are doing really impressive things and when they are doing ordinary, everyday things, I love them all to pieces. They impress me, shock me, occasionally embarrass me, and always make me proud to be their mother.

So Sweet!

Yesterday, Brynna got a Dora tea set from Grandma. She is so in love with tea parties. Sarah and Eric and Fred attended a tea party this morning. Eric invited a pet rock. Brynna fed them 'so much' brownies. Rocky kept making messes. Brynna was very busy! Between serving and running to get napkins, she barely had time for her own tea! Fred was not the only bird in attendance. Brynna invited a few 'maginary birds, so Fred wouldn't be alone.

How awesome is it that Sarah and Eric took time out of what they were doing to play tea party with Brynna? And amused themselves doing it? Without making Brynna lose her mind?

I love these people!

A Whole Year? Really?!?!

It has been a year since I posted anything? Really? That is just sad! In my defense, I have been a little busy. Scouts, kids, scouts, kids, scouts, tkd, scouts, blah, blah, blah. I read through the older posts to find out what I was writing about last year. I had forgotten some of those things. I absolutely have to get back to blogging! If left to my brain, the My Size Barbie story would never have been remembered. And that would just be sad.

So, let's catch up. This month, after 2 years of Taekwondo, the kids and I decided it was time for an extended break. They achieved their black belt status and this mom is tired.

Last summer I became the assistant den leader for the Pack 64 Bears (Caleb's den). Now I am the co-leader of the Dragon Patrol. I so wanted them to be the duck tape patrol. The patch has a duck taped to the wall. But, alas, it was not to be.

For one of Lauren's Christmas presents, I let her join Brownies. Which led quickly to another assistant leader position. Yay me! In September, I will be the Junior I's leader after Lauren bridges.

Scouts is a slippery slope! Now, Sarah has rejoined the scouting program. She is going to be a Senior Girl Scout and a member of the Venturing Crew. She is currently working on her Silver Award project.

Eric will soon achieve his Star rank. He has also grown by leaps and bounds this year. He is currently 5'11", 150 lbs., and wears a size 15 shoe. He will turn 13 in November. He is working feverishly on merit badges. He took Reptile Studies at summer camp and is dying to have a snake now. I am totally caving on that one.

Sarah has been wanting a parakeet for a few months now. While we were out looking at snakes and stuff tonight, Sarah purchased her new pet, Fred. The kids are all wound up about snakes and birds. Which leads us to tonight's 'my kids crack me up!' story.

Sarah is sitting next to the bird's cage, reading a book. Aiden says,"Sarah, can I lay on you?"

Sarah,"No."

Aiden,"Can I lay on Fwed?"

Sarah,"No."

Aiden,"If I lay on him, will I be smooshed and trapped in the cage forever? Would that be hilawious?"

He cracks me up!

And Ms. Brynna was very concerned about the sheet they put over Fred's cage. "He's all alone! He'll be lonely."

Sarah assured her that he would be fine.

Brynna,"Is he gonna fweak out?"

My children continuously amaze me. All of them. And sometimes, they make me fweak out.

That's my kid!

Everyone knows I love a project. I do. They are exciting and fun. I don't love other people's projects quite as much. Let me rephrase, I do love them. It just takes me a little longer to get excited about them.

Eric decided that today was the perfect day to start working on his Halloween costume. Yes, in July. Such forethought. Such creativity. Such ingenuity. What?!?! You need BONDO? Seriously?

For a little while I was feeling incredulous about his bondo request. And then I remembered my cookie cutter project. Woke up one morning and decided I needed JB Weld. For a cookie cutter.

So yeah. That's my kid.

Jobs I hate that make me smile

There are a few jobs that I just really detest. Repackaging meat is one of them. Every time I start I think, next time I will just buy it like this. Then I get to the store and it is so expensive! So I never buy ground beef in one pound packages. Never. I buy the family pack and separate. I never buy stew meat. I buy a roast and cut it up. But it is a job I really hate.

Today it occurred to me, while I was cussing myself for being too cheap, that every time I do this job, I end up smiling.

One time Mom and Aunt Jackie showed up at the house while I was doing the dreaded job. They both jumped right in and helped me knock it out in record time. Now every time I do this nasty, vile job, I think of them here helping me. And it makes me smile.

I have a similar thing with cleaning the kitchen with my brother. Sure wish he was here to help me clean up this mess.

I love you, Barbie!

Tonight my Eric broke his first spoon. His Grandma will be so proud. And his Uncle Bryan. I know I am. He joins a long line of wooden spoon breakers. Typically we broke them trying to stir tea cake dough. But Eric is so talented, he managed to break one on chocolate chip. I can't even begin to tell anyone how nice it is to have a baker's helper. It is awesome. Eric is just glad to finally have a 'gimmick'. Crazy child. I do so love him. I am gonna miss him while he is in Kentucky this week. (Boy Scout Camp) BUT I WILL NOT CRY! un-huh sure.

While Eric was busy baking for his trip, the babies found the My Size Barbies. What is it about a doll as tall as you that is so fascinating?

I was trying desperately to herd them towards the bathtub. Aiden was dragging the doll around. Brynna was having heart to hearts with hers. Finally I said, "That's it!" I took the doll from Aiden and stood it up in the corner of the bathroom."She can watch you take a bath." Aiden says, "But I was dancing with her!" All outraged. He walks up to the Barbie and says,"I love you," and gets in the tub. Brynna walks up to the Barbie and says,"Whatever you do, don't let that boy get you again! You understand me? DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME???" And then finally they were both in the tub.

I almost fell out. How can you be mad at these disobedient animals when they are SO FUNNY?

Friday, June 24, 2011

Yep! I'm a strange one.

Everyone who knows me, knows that the strangest things make me happy. A cool cake, a pretty cookie, an educational breakthrough, a mowed lawn, a deal. These kinds of things make me happy. Giddily happy. Giggling to myself in public happy. I am a simple woman. (Shut up, honey!)

Everyone who knows me, knows that I love a project. I have a tendency to jump in with both feet and completely immerse myself. The latest project around here is couponing. I have resisted using coupons for 20 years. They are too annoying, not worth the hassle, and they are just for stuff I wouldn't buy anyway. They are still annoying. And, yes, I am buying things I ordinarily wouldn't. But they are totally worth the hassle!

So far I have gotten razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, body wash, nail polish, and candy for free. FREE!!! My favorite kind of deal! These are things I would not have normally bought. We never buy the newest expensive razors. We have always used the whatever was on sale or cheap at Walmart razors. But free makes all the difference in the world. We have never bought body wash. We don't have money to burn like that. But free? Sure, bring it on. And it is fun!!! Who knew shopping could be so much fun?

Today's deal was cereal. We eat a fair amount of cereal around here. I thought I was saving enough on it by just buying what was cheapest. If it was on sale, we could buy froot loops. If it wasn't, tootie frooties here we come. And then we started couponing. Last week, I was happy when I got raisin bran and froot loops for $1.50 a box. Made me happy. I realize now that it was not the super deal I thought it was. It could be so much better.

At HEB today, I bought 12 boxes of fruit roll ups and 28 boxes of cereal. I know it sounds extreme. It even looks extreme.

My total before coupons was $85. I almost swallowed my tongue. My total after coupons was $38.54!! That is 96 cents a box! Very exciting if you are strange like me, but it gets better. With my receipt I got 3 $5 coupons good on my next trip to HEB. Hello? Another $15 off makes this haul a whopping 59 cents a box. Are you kidding me? If I hadn't done it, I would not believe it.

Let me just add that we had never before brought home Dora cereal. Brynna had begged a few times, but I was NOT spending $3+  a box on that crap. Maybe for her birthday. I was pleasantly surprised. No bells, whistles, or sugar bombs. Just tiny little stars, lightly sweetened with a touch of cinnamon. Brynna is a happy girl.

So is her mommy. And yes, I did let Brynna have cereal for dinner. And Aiden had honey nut cheerios. He thinks it is Spongebob cereal. Shhh! Don't tell!

Scattered!

I am scattered. My interests, my brain, everything. I can't focus. And I have so much I want to do, that I can't get anything done. I want to bake cookies. And decorate them. For me! Just for fun. That probably won't happen. sigh

Repeat Fish

A few years ago I tried to make a fish cake for my fisherman neighbor. His dad requested a gar. I made a chocolate fish. You can tell it is a fish. That is about the nicest thing I can say about it. LOL

Chocolate gar?

This year his wife asked me to try again. This time we were thinking catfish. Try, try again.

I will have to figure out how to flip it later. I think it is better, but still not quite good enough. At least I am getting better.

I also had an order for a cake for Fabianna.  Fabianna just turned six. She put in her own cake request. She wanted a cake with Lalaloopsie(a doll) and Teddy(the teddy she has been dragging around for a couple of years). Sure, I can do that. Unfortunately for me, her mom bought her clothes for Teddy. So, Teddy was dressed up as a butterfly(?) or Fairy(?). I don't know. Sculpt a Teddy? Sure! Sculpt a Teddy with wings? Sure? no problem. GULP! It all worked out.

Lala/Teddy Cake

The rainbow cupcakes were my addition. Fabi's favorite cake is strawberry. Mine is not! I had to sneak in a way to have chocolate cake at the birthday party. Is that wrong? A little, but you know it is all about me! I wish I had thought to take a pic of the cake with the dolls there, too. Next time I'll remember. Right.....that'll happen.

Late Again!

Once again, I got distracted from the task at hand. I mean to do better! I really do. But life keeps getting in the way. Kids, scouts, taekwondo, dinner, laundry, cake, kids, pool maintenance, dishes, facebook. If I could manage to never sit down, quit eating, sleeping, and facebooking, then I could catch up. (So far, it ain't happening.)

I have been bitten by the coupon bug. Sounds crazy, I know. It is crazy. But free nail polish had me flying for days. My cvs fix for today included 2 tubes of toothpaste, 2 John Frieda full repairs, 2 pulsar toothbrushes , 2 fluoride rinses and 1 deo. My total was $11, with ecbs for $11 off my next purchase. It is fun!

I did a cake for my friend, Kim. A welcome back to Texas, Happy Birthday, Graduation cake, all in one. It was a daunting project. This is the result:
Kim's Texas cake

Unfortunately, it did not ride well. It fell over into a lovely pile:

So, so sad.

Kim was so sweet. She took it anyway. I was glad. It would have been heartbreaking to clean all that work out of the back of the burb. I will make it up to her someday.

Today, I finished a baby shower cake. I was trying to match this fabric:

Although not what I had planned, it turned out cute. If I had more time, I would have done more of the toile...
Baby Toile

I have 2 more cakes to do this weekend. I have high hopes! Modeling chocolate is AWESOME!! Forget anything I have previously said about fondant. Modeling chocolate beats it... hands down!!! I am in love! Wait until you see this weekends cakes! Unless they crash...

Long, Hard Week

I know! I know! Haven't been here in forever! Bad Mommy! Bad Mommy! Who knows how many cute, adorable things I have missed recording in the weeks(!) since I posted? Lots, I am sure.

This week started with me being sick. Running fever sick. I rarely get sick enough to run a fever. And a good thing, too, because this ship doesn't run well when the cap'n is down. Thank goodness they are getting old enough to supervise themselves.

Monday- Mom sick. I did manage to move from the bed to the couch. But then had to ask a short person to fetch my pillow because sitting up was too hard. Kids managed fine. House is destroyed, but manageable.

Tuesday- Mom still sick. I manage to work on the laundry a little, but had to go back to bed. Kids are fine with that. Another free day.

Wednesday- Mom is better! Yay! House is trashed. Let's clean it all up to sparkling in as little time as possible! By the time dinner was cooked (first time this week), Mom is well on her way to being dead. Kids aren't quite as happy. "Mom, don't you need a nap?"

Thursday-Mom is betterer. LOL Kids are worse! Rotten, even. What happened to my sweet, biddable children? (Oh shut up! This is my fantasy!) Sarah is swinging between hysterical giggling and pitiful weepiness. Brynna got a band aid stuck in her hair. Eric cut it out! Hello!?!? Then he was all offended because I was not pleased. Caleb spent his day being all outraged. Snarling and yelling and generally being mad every time anyone looked crossways at him. Lauren was pouty and whiny. Why, oh why can't she live across the street? Aiden spends a lot of time stomping his feet and screaming,"I don't like you!" By the end of the day, Mom is more than ready to retreat to her bed. What in the world is wrong with these horrible children? How did they turn into these hellions just because I was out of commission for a couple of days?

Oh, no! I have figured it out and it is NOT good news. For the first time, maybe ever, the kids did not bring home the illness and infect their parents. I think maybe, just maybe, Mom brought it home and infected her babies. Poor little angels. They are in for a rough Memorial Day.

Grammar Police

I am not the grammar police. Really. I just have a few issues that drive me insane. The 'Have a Gooder Morning' commercial for example. (My problem may be worse than I realized. Just having it typed there, mocking me, is making my skin crawl. Just a little bit.) Anyway...

Last night we had mashed potatoes with our dinner. Eric's all time favorite food. He will eat them until he is sick. Then he reheats them for breakfast, lunch. However long they last is how long he eats them. He is my main potato peeler. And the person in charge of putting the mashed potatoes in the fridge after dinner. (So they will be waiting for him come breakfast time.)

Mom, "Son, will you put these up, please?"

Son, "What? Did you mash them individually? You need to watch that grammar, young lady!"

I almost fell out. Not just because he was right, and I hadn't even noticed, but it was so quick. I really admire quick. Especially not having been blessed with it myself. I love my Eric.

For the love of CAKE!

I want to take this moment to thank my baby brother. Thank you for the challenges. The armadillo cake that started it all:
Bryan's Bleedin' Armadillo groomscake
Followed by the not quite successful snake cake. It wasn't pretty but it was a challenge. You added something really special to my life. And I thank you.

Cake

It has been a pretty busy cake week for me. The only week worse is the week of February 20th. When it was going good, it was wonderful. And when it wasn't, it was murder. But they are done.
Saturday's Crossover cake

My oldest son is now officially a Boy Scout! No more cubbies for him. Me, on the other hand, I'll be a cubbie parent for about 8 more years.

My Boy Scout

We only went for the day. Once again we did not camp. Maybe next year. LOL. Sarah and Lauren did not go with us and for the most part I did not see the boys all day. Just chasing babies all day.

The babies discovered the joys of the 'forest'. The 'monkey'? forest. Or maybe the murky? forest. I dunno. It was the something forest.

The Monkey Forest

They had such a great time climbing. Up and down and in and out. Over and under, making me follow. It was only slightly exhausting.

They really had fun. And I had fun watching them. When I wasn't terrified of them falling, running into snakes, or disappearing. And who would deny them the joy of the climb?

And then it was time to go to the creek. I had never been to the creek before. Never been over the creek bridge before. I am not a fan of heights. These babies don't seem to suffer from that same affliction. We started over the bridge. Brynna refuses to hold my hand. Then she stops. By now, we are in the middle of the bridge. Aiden is running ahead, Brynna is lagging behind. Mom is in the middle of the bridge praying that she doesn't fall or pass out. Here it is....my shame. I followed Aiden. Left Brynna. There I said it. I am a bad mom. Left my three year old on the bridge to make her own way across. In my defense, I probably would have gone back for her. But I didn't have to. Mr. Moffett, my new hero, walked my baby across the bridge. Not that she was scared or anything. She just didn't want to walk with me. Brat!

Scary Freaking Bridge w/ Mr. Moffett

It was a wonderful day. And exhausting. And dirty. I really don't mind getting dirty. I really don't. But just as soon as I hit a/c, I want to be clean! I hate dirt between my toes. EEwwww!! The boys apparently don't mind.

Aren't they cute?
